You'll find all the ingredients to make your stay in Zumaia an unforgettable experience!
1.- Unique experiences.
The flysch is a geological phenomenon that is millions of years old and that scientists have been studying for decades. Very few places in the world boast such geological richness, and Zumaia is one of them. And now you have the opportunity to visit it by sail in an eco-sustainable, relaxed and exclusive way. In total, 8 departures have been scheduled until mid-September. Discovering the flysch by sailboat will be another memorable adventure to enjoy in the Geopark of the Basque Coast.
2.- Unique landscapes.
The Basque Coast's Geopark spans the municipalities of Deba, Mutriku and Zumaia, and is located between the Cantabrian Sea and the mountains. At first glance, from the shore, its succession of meadows and forests stand out. But, as is always the case, the true beauty is inside, and the really interesting sides of this place you'll find when you delve deeper into it. Although the Geopark is more linked to geology, it also offers you the chance to learn more about the area's heritage: artistic, intangible, natural and as regards renewable energy. In addition, you can visit them throughout the year thanks to the guided tours offered by the Geopark.
3.- Stunning nature.
Although, at first glance, you'll be struck by the sea, the inland areas offer attractions that will surprise you too. Both the coast and the inland zones offer you numerous options to enjoy Zumaia's blue and green. What do you like the most? Aquatic activities? Hikes? Navigation, whether on a sailboat or motorboat? Relaxing at a thalassotherapy center? Nordic walking? Whatever it is, you're sure to find it in Zumaia!
- - Full of history.
The location of the hermitage dedicated to San Telmo makes evident the intimate connection between Zumaia, the sea, and sailors. This is a relationship harboring many secrets and stories waiting to be discovered at the Hermitage of San Telmo, which you can do this summer; every day, until August 31 from 11:30 to 13:30. From Monday to Saturday, from 11:00 to 14.00, you can also visit the Parroquia de San Pedro (Parish of St. Peter), which, in addition to being the center of Zumaia, was formerly a bastion against attacks from the sea. This is why it offers jaw-dropping 360-degree views of Zumaia! And, if you like museums and history, don't forget that the Zuloaga and Beobide museums, and the Algorri Interpretation Center, are open all year round.
5.- For families.
Spend time with family; quality time doing things and activities that will appeal to everyone. That sounds great, doesn't it? If you want to know more about geology, nature, sports, beaches, or hidden treasures, and to do it all as a family, with everyone having fun, you can do that too in Zumaia.
