Zumaia, brimming with art
Nobody can deny that Zumaia is a photogenic town. There are many spots and viewpoints where you can take photographs: the San Telmo hermitage and the area of Algorri, or the Camino de Santiago to Getaria, for example. You can get panoramic images of Zumaia from all these places. What’s more, if you walk through the streets of the town, you’ll find spectacular places and buildings to photograph.
You’ll take many photos home with you to show off to family and friends. But if you turn all these prints into paintings, the result will be even more impressive, and you’ll be able to decorate the walls of your home or office.
Zumaia knows a thing or two about painting and art. In fact, it has been organising the Open-Air Painting Competition for more than 20 years. Last year, the competition could not be held due to the current situation. However, after this break, this year it’s back on 23rd May. The Local Council wants to encourage citizen participation in the contest. To this end, it has selected 37 paintings from those collected over the last 20 years and has prepared reproductions of them, which have been placed in the town’s shopfronts to create a street exhibition. These works will be on display until 23rd May, and at the end of the exhibition there will be a raffle of the reproductions for customers.
Come and visit Zumaia and, in the meantime, enjoy a wide range of products offered by the local shops. Whatever you need or want, you’ll find it in Zumaia. And you can get yourself a present: take a painting home with you!
