Parking areas
To ensure that visitors arriving to Zumaia and local residents can coexist harmoniously, parking is regulated by a by-law called TAO-OTA.
If you follow the traffic signs, you’ll find free parking just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, at the entrances.
To avoid any issues and choose the most convenient parking spot, we suggest you to check the conditions before arriving here.
You can download the map here.

The parking areas recommended on the map are the best option for visitors, as they offer the best parking facilities for them; most of them, free and just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.
But if you still want to use a paying parking area, it is possible to buy the parking ticket using the parking machines on the surroundings (cash or credit card) or using

Shuttle service to cross the river Urola
It could be said that there has always been a boat service to cross the estuary in Zumaia. Some historical documents refer to a boat service used also by pilgrims, to cross the Urola river and arrive to Zumaia, when the actual bridges didn't exist.
Even today, there is a boat transport service to help you get to the city centre, withour crossing those bridges.
When it is more difficult to park (due to the TAO- OTA restrictions and the number of visitors) a SHUTTLE service will be offered to connect the free P5 parking area (at the Marina) with the town center, by boat.

Likewise, during beach season (15th June- 15th septembre), another boat service will connect the town center (Txomin Agirre pier) with Santiago beach. This service is also a good option to have a pleasant boat trip on the river.

Parking for private coaches
Visitors arriving by coach have to alight at the bus stop located in Urola plaza. The parking area for coaches is in the adjacent square (Ikatz plaza).
Following the pleasant promenade that runs alongside the estuary, visitors will reach the town centre in 5 minutes.
